Auburn Football fire Bryan Harsin

The firing came less than 48 hours after the Tigers lost to Arkansas at home by 14 points. The team dropped to 3-5 on the season and is in danger of not getting to participate in a Bowl Game at the end of the year, the first time this will have happened since 2012.  Harsin ends his tenure at Auburn with a 9-12 record, a less-than-ideal record when you are playing in the powerhouse that is the SEC. “President [Christopher] Roberts…

Concussion Protocols

By: Van Cathcart III PICTURE CREDITS: Bleacher Report Recently the National Football League (NFL) has fallen under major scrutiny for player safety. Head trauma is something that has been in conversation and associated with the sport for many years and is getting to the point where not much can be done but dissolve the sport altogether. Injuries are a part of any sport, especially when playing at the level that professional athletes do. However, head and neck injuries are something more severe than anything else that could happen. These injuries can have several side effects including paralyzing players and even…

Warhawk athletes return for first season post Covid-19

By: Dalton Kimbro AUM junior and elementary education major Lucy Anthony As the pandemic began to change the world in March of 2020, many athletes had no idea that their sports were about to drastically change in the very near future. From masking, to testing and shortened seasons, many Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) athletes had a much different college athletic experience than they expected. “We had to test before each meet and were only allowed to take our masks off during the actual races,” said junior elementary education major and cross country runner Lucy Anthony. University of Alabama vs IONA University

BY: Randy Dunn As Alabama’s Crimson Tide continued to roll through March Madness, they gained experience and confidence even though the odds were against them nightly. When playing against the Iona Gaels on March 20, the Tide continued its hot streak of dominance. SEC Player of the Year Herb Jones gave the Tide another miraculous performance with 20 PTS, 6 RBS, and 2 AST. With Alabama shooting nearly 50% from the floor at 42.7%, it was a long night defensively for Iona. They had a rough night, shooting only 39% from the floor. Although Bama was hot all year from…

AUM Women’s Basketball Season Recap

BY: Randy Dunn The Lady Warhawks had a very rough start and finish to this season. After finishing 12-16 and having some sparks of great play, they finished the 2020 season 2-13. A big factor that played a part in this disappointing season was COVID-19. The protocols and rules coming into play limited the Warhawks when it came to practicing and being able to become more solid as a team. Last year, the Warhawks had many junior and senior leaders who knew how to win when games got tough and close. Unfortunately, this year this team was noticeably young and…

AUM Men’s Basketball Season Comes to a Wrap

Although they came short of those goals and ended the season with a 3-14 record, not all is lost. A big factor that played a part in this disappointing season was COVID-19. The protocols and rules coming into play limited the Warhawks when it came to practicing and being able to become more solid as a team because of the team’s inexperience with only three seniors returning to the roster. Last year, the…

Take In Every Moment

BY: Hannah Long COVID-19 has impacted everyone’s lives. For AUM Women’s Soccer, it has impacted their season.  The team plays roughly 17 games each season, and more if they make it to the GSC tournament. During this season, the Lady Warhawks were allowed only six conference games with a one-game guarantee in the playoff tournament. This is not a way the seniors wanted to end their season.  Senior Ali Brewer spoke with me about her senior year and how she wishes things were different. “Yes we are lucky to even have a season, but with only playing six games it is…
