AUM Volleyball

Auburn University at Montgomery’s volleyball team is scheduled to take on the Mississippi College Choctaws on Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m. AUM is moving on to the second round of the Gulf South Conference Championship after taking down Valdosta State on Nov. 7 by a final score of 3-1. The Choctaws are sitting at the number three seed in the tournament and earned a bye in the first round of the tournament. The Warhawks have met the Choctaws two other times in the past, with Mississippi taking both contests with scores of 3-1 and 3-0.

The Warhawks finished with a 16-17 overall record in the regular seasons and 8-8 in conference play. The Choctaws finished the season with a 23-6 record and finished their conference schedule at 12-4.

Tickets to watch in person can be purchased through the University of West Florida’s athletic department and are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tournament passes can be purchased at $25 for adults and $10 for students.

A few players to look for on the Warhawks:

Ylenia De Mango – the only player to receive All-GSC honors with 306 kills and a hitting percentage of .299, a team-high.

Kendall McCain – is the team leader in kills (329) and digs (288) she also has 37 service aces this season.

Amber Bretwisch – currently has 1,200 assists as a Warhawk with over 700 of them coming from this season alone.

Alessia Cappai – GSC Freshman of the Week for two weeks running.

Savannah Sebek – averages 4.34 per set and has over 150 digs.
