Her training begins with a workout in the Wellness Center from 8-9 a.m., and after classes she ends with practice in the gym from 4:30-7 p.m. Torquetti says these tough practices usually consist of “a lot of reps of swinging, blocking, passing [and other] volleyball movements.” Torquetti’s stats prove thepractices are valuable as her season highs consist of nine total blocks and 16 points against LeeUniversity last Friday. By: Van Cathcart III Auburn University at Montgomery’s volleyball team is scheduled to take on the Mississippi College Choctaws on Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m. AUM is moving on to the second round of the Gulf South Conference Championship after taking down Valdosta State on Nov. 7 by a final score of 3-1. The Choctaws are sitting at the number three seed in the tournament and earned a bye in the first round of the tournament. The Warhawks have met the Choctaws two other times in the past, with Mississippi taking both contests with scores of 3-1 and 3-0. The Warhawks finished with a 16-17 overall record in the regular seasons and 8-8 in conference play. Warhawk Volleyball Season Ends in GSC Semifinal

BY: Hannah Long The Lady Warhawks volleyball team had a heck of a season. They finished 4-1 in conference play and 6-2 overall. With this kind of record, they held the quarterfinals of the GSC championship series at their home court. Facing Valdosta State University and winning 3-0, the lady Warhawks advanced to the semifinals to face the Chargers of UAH in Hoover, Ala.  Although the Warhawks played tough, it wasn’t tough enough. The Chargers took the game and won 3-1.  Some star players to recognize in that semifinal game are Mariane Cassiano, Nyah Wittlesey and Giada Pais-Marden, who led the Warhawks offensively. The Lady Choctaws won 3-0 against the Warhawks in a home game that helped boost their confidence as the season winds down.  Mississippi College moves on with a record 10-19 and a total of 5 conference wins. The Warhawks move on with a record of 16-13 and 7 conference wins. The Warhawks are still eligible for the playoff with 3 games over .500 and a couple more games left in the regular season. AUM Volleyball vs West Georgia

BY: Brandon Barker AUM battled against University of West Georgia this past Saturday but fell short. This (3-0) loss ended the Warhawks’ three-game winning streak. This road test proved to be one of AUM’s toughest matchups so far.  The West Georgia Wolves are currently (9-7) and undefeated in the Gulf South Conference, with a record of (4-1) at home and a (3-4) record at neutral locations. The Wolves hit .227 on the day, with a dominant performance from one of their freshman. UWG held the Warhawks to a .120 hitting percentage, which led to an easy match win.  AUM’s conference record is now (3-2), and the Warhawks hope to improve that in the coming week.
