Victory on the Horizon

BY: Alecia Hicks Basketball season is a time for popcorn, points, and victories. The AUM Men’s Basketball team started their journey into the season back in November with their first game beginning with UAB. Since then, they have been taking on many challenging teams as they fight for a position this season. This season has proven to have been an uphill battle for the Warhawks, but the crowd and the players have not given up yet. The overall score so far is 8-13, with hopefully more wins in the future.  Tonight’s win against Mississippi College left both fans and players with much excitement. The game was very close, with both teams putting in a lot of effort. The Warhawks left the court with 68 points against Mississippi, who were only able to score 60. Jeremiah Bozeman, the senior...

Warhawks Give it Their Best Shot Through the Season

BY: Kenyetta Stephens Tough times don’t last— tough people do. Auburn University of Montgomery's Women’s Basketball team is struggling through the season. The team holds a record of 6-10 for the 2021- 2022 season so far. The season started off tremendously, until the fourth game. There are 16 players on the team, with two being graduating students and three of them being seniors. The team is still young, and they have tons of fundamentals to develop. Although the season has been a little shaky, the team still has a chance to turn it around. While there are 11 games remaining, a better season is possible.  The Warhawks recently won 86-72; that’s a way to recover after four losses. Catlin Carter led the team with 22 points. Carter has been averaging 14 points a game. Her best game was...

University of Alabama vs IONA University

BY: Randy Dunn As Alabama’s Crimson Tide continued to roll through March Madness, they gained experience and confidence even though the odds were against them nightly. When playing against the Iona Gaels on March 20, the Tide continued its hot streak of dominance. SEC Player of the Year Herb Jones gave the Tide another miraculous performance with 20 PTS, 6 RBS, and 2 AST. With Alabama shooting nearly 50% from the floor at 42.7%, it was a long night defensively for Iona. They had a rough night, shooting only 39% from the floor. Although Bama was hot all year from three-point land, they were ice cold during this game, shooting only 31.3% and struggling from the free throw line with only 13 of 23 attempts (56.5%). The Tide fought hard defensively and out-rebounded the Gaels 42 to 26...

AUM Women’s Basketball Season Recap

BY: Randy Dunn The Lady Warhawks had a very rough start and finish to this season. After finishing 12-16 and having some sparks of great play, they finished the 2020 season 2-13. A big factor that played a part in this disappointing season was COVID-19. The protocols and rules coming into play limited the Warhawks when it came to practicing and being able to become more solid as a team. Last year, the Warhawks had many junior and senior leaders who knew how to win when games got tough and close. Unfortunately, this year this team was noticeably young and inexperienced, so being thrown into the fire may have been too much. Senior Catlin Carter had an impressive season and led the team with an average score of 13.5 PPG. She led the way and showed that she was the go-to scorer when ...
