MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Sept 18, 2026) – The AUM Warhawks faced a tragic defeat against the Trevecca University Trojans with a 0-3 shutout game this past Friday, marking loss number nine of their eleven-game record this season.

The game began at 6 p.m. with the Warhawks starting freshman outside hitter Gabriella Wokatsch, sophomore setter Addison Boyll, freshman outside hitter Mya Lacey, freshman middle blocker Jamaya Powell, sophomore middle blocker Jaslyn Montgomery and their freshman libero Amliaa DeLeon.

Trevecca started #1Katilyn Grant, #5 Jordan Hunt, #11 Brynne Kragnes, #22 Isabella Sherrod, #23 Emma Schnitzer and had #12 Zoie Elrod as their libero.

The Trojans had the first serve, and lost point 1 to a masterfully blocked attack, courtesy of Lacey.

This didn’t stop Trevecca, though, as they were able to bounce back after AUM’s serve, scoring their first point, as well.

The Trojans weren’t just satisfied with that, however, as they would take their momentum from that first point and carry it all the way to an early lead of 1-7.

By the time the Warhawks were able to fully get their bearings, the Trojans had blitzed ahead with a 2-13 lead.

AUM was able to gain some ground on Trevecca but ultimately lost the first set 13-25.

Come set 2, however, the Warhawks showed what they look like in full swing, with a much closer round.

Possession in set 2 was back and forth, with neither team keeping the ball for more than one serve in most cases.

It was only slightly over halfway through the set that Trevecca was able to eke out a three-point lead going to 15-18, and the tide seemed to shift into their favor.

The Warhawks still fought savagely to close the lead, and AUM gained the serve on match point via a blocked attack, preventing the Trojans from securing their second set for now.

The score was 20-24. Things were looking precarious for the Warhawks, but it was nothing they couldn’t handle, or so they likely thought.

AUM served and both teams fought hard – Trevecca to secure their second point and AUM to stop them at all costs, with the round lasting nearly two minutes!

Eventually, though, the overwhelming Trojan offense was too much and the Warhawks dropped the ball, metaphorically and literally, closing out the set with a 20-25 hard-fought tragic second loss for AUM and a hard-fought victory and 2 out of the 3 needed sets for Trevecca.

Early on in set 3 is where things looked like they might turn around for the Warhawks, as the two teams were neck and neck until they reached the 4-5 point mark, when the Warhawks took the lead at 7-5 – the first time AUM had a multiple-point lead that night.

Warhawk fans were ecstatic and cheered at this potential turnaround from the underdog team until their hopes were dashed when Trevecca took the serve and flipped the lead around, turning the score 7-9.

That was the beginning of the end for AUM that night, as though they fought hard, they were no match for the incredible defense and ruthless offense of the Trojans, eventually ending the final set 16-25, with a 0-3 upset by Trevecca.

This marked loss number nine for the Warhawks this season, and their seventh consecutive loss since their last victory on Aug 29 against Lane.

With many games remaining in the season for AUM, the Lady Warhawks still have potential to turn their record positive this season, though it will be a lot of work, but they will have a chance in many of the upcoming games.

Given how hard the Warhawks fought in sets two and three, I suspect many fans are going to be looking forward to the rematch between the two at Trevecca Nazarene, Saturday, Oct 17.
