Progress in the Making

BY: Alex Roberson The Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) softball season has been remarkable to watch lately. The success of the team keeps getting better and better. Their overall record is 24-6 with a 12-3 record in conference play. In the Gulf South Conference (GSC), the team still sits in the top three seeds within the conference. There are still a lot of games left to contribute to the great season so far. The team suffered a disappointing 5-9 loss against Embry-Riddle University at the Embry-Riddle Tournament early in the season. As the Warhawks shook off the loss, they had an astonishing 15-0 win against the University of West Georgia on Feb. 26. After beating a conference opponent, the University of West Florida 8-1, AUM is currently on a seven-game win streak. There is a...

Women’s Tennis gets ready for first weekend at home

BY: Isadora Nicolai The Women's Tennis team prepares for the first two matches at home after beating Middle State Georgia University 7-0. A big start in their 2022 season promises a lot more good action at AUM this weekend. The Warhawks will be hosting the Spring Hill College Badgers on February 10 at 11 a.m., followed by the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers at 3 p.m. Both matches will take place at the AUM Tennis Complex, and a free tennis clinic will take place at 2 p.m. in between matches.  The first adversary should not cause major trouble for our ladies since AUM has a history of 4-0 versus Spring Hill College. Tuskegee University will be news; there has never been a match in which both schools faced each other.  Come support the Warhawks and enjoy the free ten...

Victory on the Horizon

BY: Alecia Hicks Basketball season is a time for popcorn, points, and victories. The AUM Men’s Basketball team started their journey into the season back in November with their first game beginning with UAB. Since then, they have been taking on many challenging teams as they fight for a position this season. This season has proven to have been an uphill battle for the Warhawks, but the crowd and the players have not given up yet. The overall score so far is 8-13, with hopefully more wins in the future.  Tonight’s win against Mississippi College left both fans and players with much excitement. The game was very close, with both teams putting in a lot of effort. The Warhawks left the court with 68 points against Mississippi, who were only able to score 60. Jeremiah Bozeman, the senior...

Warhawks Give it Their Best Shot Through the Season

BY: Kenyetta Stephens Tough times don’t last— tough people do. Auburn University of Montgomery's Women’s Basketball team is struggling through the season. The team holds a record of 6-10 for the 2021- 2022 season so far. The season started off tremendously, until the fourth game. There are 16 players on the team, with two being graduating students and three of them being seniors. The team is still young, and they have tons of fundamentals to develop. Although the season has been a little shaky, the team still has a chance to turn it around. While there are 11 games remaining, a better season is possible.  The Warhawks recently won 86-72; that’s a way to recover after four losses. Catlin Carter led the team with 22 points. Carter has been averaging 14 points a game. Her best game was...

Road to Victory

BY: Alecia Hicks AUM’s volleyball team is starting the season off with some heat. The team has been barrelling through the season with competitive victories. In the first couple of months, the girls have made their way through three invitational rounds: the USC Aiken Invitational, Shark Invitational and Reddie-Tiger Invitational.  All of the girls have been working very hard to make sure that the team stays on a steady incline as they make their way to the championship at the end of the season. The team’s first official game was back in September against the North Greenville Knights. The girls dominated in all five sets taking the win back home. Since then, the team has won a total of 15 out of 26 games and plans on winning many more.  The most recent home game had an outstanding...

Warhawk Volleyball Season Ends in GSC Semifinal

BY: Hannah Long The Lady Warhawks volleyball team had a heck of a season. They finished 4-1 in conference play and 6-2 overall. With this kind of record, they held the quarterfinals of the GSC championship series at their home court. Facing Valdosta State University and winning 3-0, the lady Warhawks advanced to the semifinals to face the Chargers of UAH in Hoover, Ala.  Although the Warhawks played tough, it wasn’t tough enough. The Chargers took the game and won 3-1.  Some star players to recognize in that semifinal game are Mariane Cassiano, Nyah Wittlesey and Giada Pais-Marden, who led the Warhawks offensively. Isadora Nicolai, the junior setter, finished with 48 assists and 10 digs against UAH.  The Chargers took sets one and two, but the Warhawks answered by taking ...
