Town Hall Meeting About Athletics Fee Raises Greater Student Concerns About Communication

After a recent town hall meeting conducted by the Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Student Government Association (SGA) and AUM Athletics Department, held on Tues., Feb. 13, 2018 at 5 p.m. in Warhawk Alley, greater student concerns were raised about the efficiency and effectiveness of communication to AUM audiences, including undergraduate students. Students initially expressed concerns at the first impromptu town hall meeting about the athletics fee held by SGA without athletics representation on Tues. Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. in Warhawk Alley. ‘Stone Soup Project’ Fending Off Hunger

A few years ago, a group of University Honors Program students conducted a survey that found that over one-third of AUM students experience food insecurity. To help address this issue, the honors students created a food pantry. The food pantry, which is student-led, is open to all AUM students. It is located on the third floor of the Taylor Center, just past the Counseling Center, and is open every Monday and Tuesday from 1–4 p.m. No personal information is taken so that students can remain anonymous and it costs nothing for the students.
