Bright Future

Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Baseball is having a winning season so far this year. They are currently sitting at a record of 18-12. The team sits in the 5th seeding spot in the conference while having a conference record of 8-7. The team is now halfway through the season, and they have continued to progress higher in the rankings. 

In the 2022 season, the Warhawks received a devastating 4-15 loss against the Columbus State University Cougars. That was a tough bout for the Warhawks, as the Cougars are ranked #8 in all of Division II. The team had an impactful game all-around, as it contributed to a 22-4 win against Talladega College. 

Currently, the team has a batting average of .311 with an On-base plus slugging percentage of .818. The team’s batting and on-base percentages have been increasing so far. The numbers are better than what the team ended with last season. Their slugging percentage right now is .427. As a team, they have a total of 33 eras out of the last 30 games. Their fielding has improved by 0.02% to have a fielding percentage of .969. 

Coach Lovrich was asked how he felt about the season so far approaching the halfway point and shared, “Overall I am pleased that, as we near the halfway point of our season, we are in a great position to make a postseason run.” Lovrich also expressed what the team needs to do to continue the great play. “We’ve got to keep swinging the bats well. Everyone on this team has a role to play going forward, and if they can all chip in and do their part this team is capable of accomplishing some great things.”

There are a few key players that have been doing damage as of lately. One of those players is Brody Syer. Syer, an outfielder, has started in all 30 games and has a batting average of .355. He scored 22 runs while collecting 35 RBIs. The next player is Jackson Ceman. Ceman, who also plays in the outfield, has a batting average of .356. Ceman played in 28 contests and scored 31 runs with 17 RBIs. The last player is Kasey Clark. Clark plays first baseman on the team, and he currently has a .315 batting average. He started in 29 games he played and scored 18 runs. He was able to tally up 20 RBIs. The team’s future is bright with the second half of the season underway.
