Soccer is a sport in which everyone must be in one accord to accomplish the same goal, which is to win. Unfortunately for AUM’s women’s soccer team, they are having trouble putting together a complete game. So far this year, the Lady Warhawks have mustard up just one win, which leaves them sitting with an overall record of 1-11 and a conference record of 1-6 (0-6 at home and 1-5 away.) Although the record doesn’t show exactly great play, there are a couple of bright spots to look forward to.
Out of 23 total players, 16 are underclassmen, which gives them time to develop and learn the system better so they all can add a dynamic role to the team as the seasons to come. There is a positive outlook when it comes to players like Senior forward, # 12 Ruby Mendez. Out of the 12 games that have been played she leads the team with a total of eight goals out of the combined 13 they have as a collective team.
As the year continues, the Warhawks aim to put together a strong finish as a team so they can build on that foundation leading into the years to come. With the young talent that’s rising up the roster, the sky should be the limit for this young team. With six games remaining, the Warhawks look to finish the season off with a bang and send the seniors off on a high note to finish their collegiate careers. To check out more information about your Lady Warhawks, you can visit www.aumathletics.com/sports/womens-soccer and see the remaining scheduled games, rosters, and stats. The site gives those who are interested in joining the team an opportunity to fill out a brief questionnaire and submit game highlights for coaches to view and maybe give you a shot of being part of the AUM soccer team.
