Love Is in the Air, but Is It Really?

Love Is in the Air, but Is It Really?

BY: Isadora Nicolai Is the 14th of February really the most romantic day of the year, or simply an overrated date to make brands profit? The lovers' day just happened, but the question that remains is: Shouldn’t every day be a celebration of love for those who have a special someone? Of course, it is important to have a day to symbolize love. After all, love is vital in human interaction. Not romantic love specifically; love comes in many shapes: family love, friend love, empathetic love for others, so on and so forth.  Dedicating a day for love is beautiful, but throughout the years, the day in question has become more of a reason to shop and spend money than to actually celebrate love. It is impossible to say that everyone that celebrates Valentine’s Day is doing it only t...

Warhawks Give Back at the Annual Tailgate

BY: Kenyetta Stephens It’s Homecoming, and every year we have our annual tailgate at AUM. The tailgate started at 10 a.m. on Feb.12 and it lasted until 12 p.m. The weather was nice and bright, and many people came to celebrate. Student Affairs handed out t-shirts to everyone who attended. There were about 12 different tables with food, drinks and prizes. I was able to converse with multiple tables during that time. This was one of the first times since Covid-19 started that we had tents out. Starting at the first tent was the Campus Activities Board (CAB). CAB was giving out chicken wings and drinks. There were four different types of wing flavors offered: lemon pepper, barbecue, buffalo and plain. The food was free to anyone who attended. One of the tables that stood out to ...

The National Pan-Hellenic Council + AUM Welcome Two More

BY: Kenyetta Stephens It’s Black History Month, and you can’t talk about Black history without bringing up Black fraternities and sororities. The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is made up of nine Black Greek Letter Organizations (BGLOs), aka the Divine Nine. The NPHC was founded on May 10, 1930, and was incorporated in 1937. BGLOs have made significant impacts on communities, more specifically Black communities. We are excited to welcome two organizations back to campus this spring.  This semester, AUM has the pleasure to welcome two National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations back to campus. Last semester, AUM announced the return of the Omicron Lambda Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated, chartered October 13, 2001, and the Rho Lambda Chapter of Zeta Phi B...

Women’s Tennis gets ready for first weekend at home

BY: Isadora Nicolai The Women's Tennis team prepares for the first two matches at home after beating Middle State Georgia University 7-0. A big start in their 2022 season promises a lot more good action at AUM this weekend. The Warhawks will be hosting the Spring Hill College Badgers on February 10 at 11 a.m., followed by the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers at 3 p.m. Both matches will take place at the AUM Tennis Complex, and a free tennis clinic will take place at 2 p.m. in between matches.  The first adversary should not cause major trouble for our ladies since AUM has a history of 4-0 versus Spring Hill College. Tuskegee University will be news; there has never been a match in which both schools faced each other.  Come support the Warhawks and enjoy the free ten...

Get Ready for Super Bowl LVI

BY: Milton Westry In less than two weeks, Super Bowl LVI will take place. The date of the Super Bowl is February 13, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. CT. The teams that will be playing are the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams, and the game will be played in Los Angeles, California. The halftime performance will feature Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige. This year’s Super Bowl was unexpected, as many people didn’t predict that these two teams would be competing for a title for their franchise because of their seeding coming into the playoffs. This Super Bowl will be the lowest-seeded matchup in NFL history.  Both teams faced a tough road to get to the Super Bowl and had to play in Wild Card games. The games that took place during the past couple of weeks were very c...
