The Seagull
Theatre AUM

The Seagull

BY: Kaleria Jackson There is no stopping Theatre AUM. After the World Tour: Acting Showcase performance earlier this semester, the department quickly started preparing for their next production. For this next production, Theatre AUM will present their production of The Seagull by Anton Chekhov translated by Christopher Hampton on November 7.  I visited the set, and it looks fantastic. Sources say that the costumes are elaborate for such a period piece. The students who are participating in the production have been working hard to bring this show to life for AUM and the community. Student and actor Tony George says he is excited for everyone to come see the dramatic aspect of the play. This play involves a type of variety that will have your emotions on a roller coaster...

Is the Café Good? Survey Says…

BY: Anonymous There are a few things that can make or break a college student’s campus life. Having a social group, events to go to and meet new people, and places to hang out at are all important. However, one of the most critical things in our lives at this point is simply food. It’s where most of our money goes and what we’re getting between classes. Hell, the main reason we go to campus events is to simply eat and leave (you’re not the only one, we all do it). It only makes sense that the cafeteria plays a big role in our lives as students.  Furthermore, it’s no secret that Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) students have been unhappy with the school’s cafeteria food for some time. So, we decided to survey the student body and ask for their opinion on the AUM Café. ...

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil Review

BY: Caitlin Gallagher Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, like its predecessor, gives us a side to the classic tale of Sleeping Beauty that we didn’t know before. The film starts with a focus on the newly engaged couple, Aurora and Prince Phillip. With a deep desire to unify their two kingdoms—The Moors and Ulstead—soon betrayal and deceit looms like a dark cloud over their plans and rips through each of their families. Once more, Angelina Jolie delivers a cunning performance as Maleficent. Riddled with sly and witty one-liners, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil delves deeper into her ancestry and we begin to see a more sensitive side of her.  When Queen Ingrith, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, shows what evil truly is as she concocts a plan to destroy Maleficent, a fatal confrontation bet...

Tips for Going to Any Christmas Market

BY: Molly Gray I am obsessed with going to Christmas markets in the area. There is just something so fun and magical about shopping in a Christmas Wonderland. I go to two markets every single year. Therefore, I have learned a lot, so I want to share my tips for going to any Christmas market. Look at the schedule for the market. This may seem like a simple thing, but it is very important. Most markets span over the weekend and offer a preview night. Preview nights are nice, but they cost extra. Therefore, you need to know what will take place each day. My best advice is to not attend on a Saturday unless you have no other option. Everyone goes on Saturdays, so it is extra crowded. Beware of strollers. Christmas markets are full of mothers who are looking for good Christmas ...
