AUM women’s and men’s basketball teams performed strongly against Montevallo last week

In an after-game interview, head coach John Plefka stated enthusiastically about the women’s win, “Huge home win for us after two straight double-digit losses; we had a solid week of practice and responded right from the tip. We executed everything very well, especially our defensive game plan.” A notable junior player on the court nicknamed “The Alabama Sniper” Allasha Dudley has now scored twenty points or more in five games so far this basketball season, according to AUM Athletics. In the spirit of the season Auburn University at Montgomery’s (AUM) campus held “Shriek Week” as the school colors are black and orange, and the Communication Department was part of these celebrations with a Halloween faculty-mentee party Monday night. The purpose of the event was for faculty mentors to meet their student mentees. The week before an email was sent out about a scavenger hunt to where students could win up prizes, including first place: $100 toward your student account; second place: lunch with Bethany Davis at WSFA and third place: $50 value gift basket. AUM Names Jon Plefka as New Head Coach for Women’s Basketball Team 

By: Cameron Grant Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) has welcomed the appointment of Jon Plefka as the new head coach for the women's basketball team. He is replacing Steve Kenner, who was the interim head coach for the women's team. Plefka is an experienced coach with an impressive track record, having previously worked with Post University in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). As a college athlete, he played basketball for Bob Knight at Texas Tech University and also played baseball for the Texas Tech who was coached by Larry Hays and was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels to play Major League Baseball (MLB).  Plefka had a successful five-year stint as the head coach of Post University's women's basketball team, where he achieved an impressive 84-55 overall ...

By: Lex Wedgworth Last Saturday, April 22, 2023, Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) hosted past alumni and their families for a tailgate at the baseball game against Valdosta State University (VSU). The event provided alumni with an opportunity to reconnect with their AUM community and support the Warhawks. The tailgate was held on the fan deck of the AUM Baseball Complex, and lunch was included. Families had to register to participate in the event. The AUM alumni tailgate started at 1 p.m. Central Standard Time. People attended the event for various reasons, such as the sense of community, the organization of the event, and the chance to catch up with other alumni and enjoy great food. Until recently, students were advised by a professor in their designated program. As of Spring 2023, students are now being advised by advising and recruiting coordinators. According to AUM students, there are pros and cons to the newly established way of advising.  Academic advisors are tasked with assisting students with course scheduling for current or future semesters, in which schedules will vary based on a student’s degree program of choice and curriculum guidelines that are set in place. MONTGOMERY, Alabama (March 6, 2023) - The Civil Rights to Civic Virtue (CRCV) Society is hosting a luncheon featuring L’Rai Arthur-Mensa, Project Director Local Projects designer of Legacy Museum, as guest speaker.
