The Lady Warhawks were swept by Mississippi College on Friday, losing a pivotal conference game. The Lady Choctaws won 3-0 against the Warhawks in a home game that helped boost their confidence as the season winds down.
Mississippi College moves on with a record 10-19 and a total of 5 conference wins. The Warhawks move on with a record of 16-13 and 7 conference wins. The Warhawks are still eligible for the playoff with 3 games over .500 and a couple more games left in the regular season. Mississippi College won the match in straight sets 25-18, 25-14, 25-17.
The first set started off slow for the Warhawks, but they eventually gained ground.. They eventually fought their way back at the end of the set, but could never get the lead. They lost the set after losing five straight points. The second set was more of the same— fighting from behind to get the lead but never getting over the hump. They lost the set 25-14. The third set was a competitive back-and-forth game that consisted of many Warhawk aces. Eventually, the Warhawks lost five of the last six points and lost the match 25-17.
The Warhawks lost the service ace advantage, and they lost the game in kills by double digits. This ultimately cost the Lady Warhawks in losing the matchup on Friday.
