Graduation Is Around the Corner

BY: Isadora Nicolai

The most anticipated time of the year is coming up, but in order to guarantee graduating with flying colors, there are a few things you have to make sure you will get done.

Four years of sweat, tears, all-nighters, freaking out over exams, and of course learning! It has come time to wrap up the studies and finally earn your degree. Although it’s only three short weeks away, graduating can still slip through your fingers. In order for that not to happen, here are some things you have to cross off your graduation list.

  1. Keep up with your attendance.

Despite almost being officially graduated, make sure you attend all your classes to the very end. Despite the fact that you may already have a sufficient grade to pass your class, some professors will fail you for attendance, especially if it is an activity class in which participation earns you most of the points.

  1. Double-check your course graduation requirements.

Meet with your advisor and make sure all the required classes for earning a degree at your school are met. Courses have different requirements and sometimes an internship is one of them. Make sure there will be no mistakes when your department chair goes to sign off on your degree.

  1. Stay on top of your final exams.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve had good grades all throughout the semester. Many classes have a much bigger weight on final exams grades when compared to the other course tests and activities. In other words, don’t flunk! You are almost there, so give that little extra effort at the end.

  1. Make sure you paid your graduation fee!

You can be the best student the school has ever seen, but if you don’t pay your fee, graduation won’t happen for you. This should be done at the beginning of the semester, but there is still time. Check your student account and make sure that is dealt with.

  1. Clear your school balance.

In order to receive your transcripts to apply to a future graduate program or for other applications, you have to have cleared your school balance. Otherwise, the school will not release your transcripts.

Best of luck to all the graduating Warhawks. New beginnings are soon to come!
