AUM students receive acknowledgment at Kennedy Center American College Theater

By: Hayley Richards Distinguished Research and Honors Professor Val Winkelman is ecstatic to announce that four Auburn University Montgomery students have been recognized at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF). Once a year, the Kennedy Center invites outstanding theater students to the KCACTF. Student awardees are allowed to showcase their skills in design, performance, directing, playwriting, stage management, dramaturgy, arts leadership and theater criticism. Recap of AUM women’s Basketball last three games

By: Cameron Grant Auburn University at Montgomery Women’s Basketball team faced off against Lee University Flames last Saturday in another Gulf South Conference (GSC) showdown. The theme of last Saturday’s game was a pink-out game in support of cancer awareness. Unfortunately, AUM women would lose against the Flames with the final score being 76-63.  It was a game where any and every shot was falling for the Flames beyond and inside the arc. The leading score for the women’s team would be Jeremiah Moore with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists which would end up being her fifth double-double of the season. Recap of AUM Men’s Basketball last three games

By: Cameron Grant AUM Men’s basketball team played against the Flames which would be an intense game. Just like the Women’s game the flames were hurting the Warhawks from beyond the arc from three-point range making 15 three-point shots as a team. The Warhawks fought their hearts out but suffered defeat against the flames with a final score of 101-90. Roderick Smith would lead the way for scoring for the Warhawks posting 32 points, 12 rebounds and 1 assist. Smith continues to be an inside enforcer being efficient inside going 11-14 from the field.    Auburn University at Montgomery’s basketball teams face University of Montevallo MONTGOMERY, Alabama (February 22, 2023) - Auburn University at Montgomery’s (AUM) men’s and women’s basketball teams will play their senior day and a white-out game against the University of Montevallo on Feb. 25 at the AUM athletics complex. In the last meeting between these two teams, AUM’s men lost their game 98-96 with the University of Montevallo leading the win record history between the two teams 9-4. What they have done is opened a new art exhibit that features the designs of Mike Winkelman and Val Winkelman at the McDermott Art Gallery at AUM. The Winkelman’s exhibit has been accessible since Feb. 2 and will be accessible Monday to Friday to students until March 23. This news is enough to send students into a panic. Luckily, options are often available to solve the issue and allow the student to graduate on time.  University students are encouraged to meet with their advisors each semester. These meetings keep the students accountable and give access to class registration for the following semester. It never hurts to check on the status of credits throughout the semester.
