Recap of AUM Men’s Basketball last three games

AUM Men’s basketball team played against the Flames which would be an intense game. Just like the Women’s game the flames were hurting the Warhawks from beyond the arc from three-point range making 15 three-point shots as a team. The Warhawks fought their hearts out but suffered defeat against the flames with a final score of 101-90. Roderick Smith would lead the way for scoring for the Warhawks posting 32 points, 12 rebounds and 1 assist. Smith continues to be an inside enforcer being efficient inside going 11-14 from the field. Joseph Lanzi would add 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals in the loss against the Flames. Travis Anderson another contributing factor would add 12 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists. The Flames would clinch a playoff spot in the GSC following the win against the Warhawks. The Warhawks would drop to 11-12 overall playing at home next game with the opponent being Union University Bulldogs (Tenn.) on Feb. 9, 2023 at 8 p.m. on Greek night.

    AUM Men’s basketball team played their next home game against Union University Bulldogs. The theme of this game would be Greek night for the Warhawks. The Warhawks would win their game against the Bulldogs in a close one with a final score of 86-80. AUM shot 10 of 18 from behind the arc with five people posting double digits in scoring. Lanzi and Anderson led the way in scoring for the Warhawks with 18 points for a combined total of 36 points. Sam Youngblood would score 14 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists shooting 4-5 from three-point range. James Graham would add 12 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in the win against the Bulldogs. Roderick Smith posted a double-double in the win against with Bulldogs with 10 points and 10 rebounds. AUM men would play their next game at home against Christian Brothers University (CBU)  which would be the AUM homecoming game.

    AUM men would win their game 83-76 against CBU. Anderson would lead the way in scoring for the Warhawks with 22 points, 9 assists, and 2 steals shooting 8-13 from field goal range. Anderson would also add 4 three-pointers in the game shooting 4-7 behind the arc. Roderick Smith would continue to establish a dominant force inside 7-8 from the floor adding 18 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Jalen Gaston would score 16 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists in the win against the Bucs. AUM men’s team will be on the road for their next two games before finishing their season at home against the University of Montevallo on Feb. 25, 2023, which would be a Senior day and white-out game. After that game, the Warhawks will be playing another game in the GSC playoffs with everything still being decided.
