MONTGOMERY, Ala – Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) baseball team bounced back into the win column with an impressive performance against Albany State University (ASU) on Wednesday. The Warhawks dominated the game from start to finish, ultimately winning 13-3 in a non conference matchup. The Warhawks would record their 13th double digit run on the season in this game. AUM would have nine players who would score run in this game to help secure the win in this game.
AUM wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard, as they plated six runs in the first inning by Clayton Phillips, Kasey Clark, Cooper Doughman, Brody Syer, Jarren Wright and Zach Dew. The team continued to put pressure on Albany State’s pitching staff, scoring three more runs in the second inning to take a 9-0 lead. The Warhawks’ offense was led by Wright who had three hits during the game against the golden rams. Jackson Ceman would be getting a two RBI double for the Warhawks that would put them ahead in the game.
The Warhawks’ pitching staff was impressive, as they held the golden rams to just three runs on eight hits. The Warhawks pitchers Daniel Swatek, Brett Pitts and Will Collins allowed a total of eight combined in the win against the Golden Rams.
Despite suffering a tough loss in their previous game, the Warhawks showed resiliency and bounced back in a big way against Albany State. With this win, AUM improves to 17-22 on the season and will look to build on their momentum as they head into a weekend series traveling to Florida to play against University of West Florida in a doubleheader matchup on Friday the first
game against the University of West Florida will start at 1 p.m. with the second game to follow at 4:30 p.m. After that doubleheader matchup the Warhawks will play University of West Florida again on Saturday at noon. The team will need to continue to execute at a high level if they hope to compete in what is shaping up to be a competitive Gulf South Conference (GSC) race.
