School of rock: How two AUM freshmen are keeping grunge alive.

The twin brothers are both members of a Millbrook-based alt-rock/grunge band called “13 Seconds of Silence,” and although only a year old, the band is making waves across the River Region. “Our sound is very unique,” said Ethan Linna, bass guitarist and backup vocalist. “Many of our guitar parts are inspired by Kurt Cobain and “Nirvana” and we sing a lot of harmonies that are similar to “Alice in Chains. Meet Macio Malone, AUM Student and Broadcast Education Association’s Multimedia Arts Festival Winner

BY: Jayla Brown One of the winners of the Broadcast Education Association’s Multimedia Arts Festival is one of our very own, Macio Malone. Malone, 24, is a senior communications major from Opelika, Ala.  The Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Media Arts is an international digital media and broadcast competition for faculty and students. According to their website, over 300 schools have students who participate and they receive 1,450 entries annually from around the country. Students can submit any form of media and/or broadcasting that was created for a media class.  Malone’s submission was created for his Digital Audio Production class in Spring 2021 for Professor Katherine Irwin. Montgomery Welcomes Josh Turner to the Montgomery Performing Arts Center

BY: Justin Hicks Montgomery, Alabama – February 11, 2020 – The Montgomery Performing Arts Center has announced that Josh Turner will hold a concert on April 9th. Tickets for the event are on sale now at ticketmaster.com. You can also purchase tickets at the MPAC box office.  Josh Turner is a country superstar who has been nominated for 18 awards throughout his music career. Though he has been nominated 18 times, he has only won twice.  He won the 2010 Single of the Year for his song “Why Don’t We Just Dance”. More recently, he won the 2019 Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year for his song “I Saw the Light”.
