Prominent businessman and broadcaster Shelley Stewart reflects on the legacy of Dr. King

By: Shataya Celestine MONTGOMERY, Ala.—Shelley Stewart, known as the best radio personality in Birmingham and one of America’s most prominent African American philanthropists, spoke about the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the recent MLK Reflections Breakfast at Auburn University at Montgomery.  At the morning event, Stewart took the time to sit down with staff and students and share in honor of King, whom he knew personally. Stewart talked about life growing up as a child in Birmingham seeing beautiful parks and places, but remembering the grocery stores and restrooms he wasn’t allowed to use. AUM Homecoming 2021-Opening Day

BY: Hannah Long Homecoming may look different this year, but it’ll still be just as fun! Come celebrate the opening day on February 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on The Quad. This day will kick off with the chance to design your own mask and grab breakfast. Krispy Kreme Donuts will be located around campus- make sure you get one before they’re gone! White cotton masks and fabric pens will be provided if you want to decorate a mask. Fun activities and tasty treats will be available all week. You do not want to miss it!
