Everyone grab your favorite running shoes and hold on, because Shriek Week is coming for us! Each October, AUM comes together to put on a thrilling show. All clubs, organizations, and departments gather and collaborate for Halloween-themed events and activities. Our school colors are black and orange, so it’s only right that we take Halloween to the next level.
Patrick Wilson is the current Director of Campus Activities Board. Patrick and his executive members plan all of the activities for the week while sometimes collaborating with different departments and organizations. “Shriek Week is important because it’s our one week to go all out and have a blast– we are the “Halloween School” after all. Shriek Week is a fun week because it is jam packed with events for faculty and students, and allows everyone to be a kid again and enjoy Halloween festivities.”
The Campus Activities Board has finally released their calendar for Shriek Week! Shriek Week will include the following events:
Movies on the Lawn: Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark on the Quad— October 28 at 7:00 p.m.
Hypnotist Act— Goodwyn 109 on October 29 at 8:00 p.m.
Haunted House— Taylor Center 230 on October 30 from 7:00 – 11:00 p.m.
Costume Party-– Taylor Center 230 on October 31 from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
For the costume contest, the three best costumes will win prizes.
I can guarantee you that Shriek Week is a great time. Since 2015, I have attended all of the activities that AUM has to offer. I have dressed up, eaten a monster cupcake, and bravely watched scary movies on the Quad with my closest friends at the darkest hour. Shriek Week is not only a big tradition for AUM, but it’s also a time for relaxation. Midterms are over, but finals are right around the corner. All of the activities included with Shriek Week are easy-going, fun, and exciting. You will definitely not be thinking about classes when you are attending an event. Make sure you make as many memories as possible– it only happens once a year!
