The Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) tennis program has experienced a great season this school year. Both the men’s and women’s teams had phenomenal wins and opportunities. On March 26, 2023, the tennis program partnered up with the Dream Court Montgomery during the women’s and men’s match against Gulf South Conference (GSC) rivals Delta State.
The Dream Court is a non-profit organization that provides a tennis program for people who have mental and physical disabilities. The focus of this organization is to have fun while learning how to play tennis, “Serving Hope, Changing Lives” is their motto. They aim to magnify the lives of those who are disabled and also strengthen their family as well. All of the athletes participating in the organization love the experience of Dream Court.
The women’s tennis team has eight players; Ane Ibarra, Isabella Pinto (seniors), Ana Villalvazo, Estefania Garcia, Nahia Izco (sophomores), Sofia Neri, Regina Urbiola, Melissa Yakup Pour (freshmen). They have won a total of 18 games this spring semester with their last game being this past Friday April 14 with a winning score of 4-3 against Lee University. They will continue to the GSC Championships, they will be playing against the University of Montevallo on Thursday April 20, 2023, at 10 a.m., this match will be held at Lagoon Park Tennis Center AUM women’s tennis.
The men’s tennis team has eight players; Thibault Jacq, Titouan Le Maout (graduate), Muhamad Bedwan, Joao Guariente (seniors), Giuseppe Bonaiuti, Adrian Contreras, Agustin Marquez, Antoine Renard (freshmen). They have won a total of 15 games this spring semester with their last game being this past Friday April 14 with a winning score of 6-1 against Lee University. They will continue to the GSC Championships, they will be playing against Mississippi College on Thursday April 20, 2023, at 2:30 p.m., this match will be held at Lagoon Park Tennis Center AUM men’s tennis.
