AUM Men’s Soccer Weekend Recap

Auburn University at Montgomery’s men’s soccer team traveled to Mississippi to participate in two conference matches. 

The Warhawks played the number one team in the conference, Mississippi College, on November 1. The men’s team lost 2-0. Mississippi College outshot AUM 12-6, with 6 of them being on goal, while AUM only had two shots on goal during the match. AUM fouled Mississippi College Choctaws 18 times, while the Choctaws fouled the Warhawks 13 times. Arnaud Baron took two shots, while Andrew Elkins, Alexis Arriaga, and Rasheed Bolaji all took a shot each. Baron and Arriaga both got a shot on target. 

Two days later, the Warhawks faced Delta State University. The men’s team won 3-1. They took 16 shots, 13 of them being on goal. Delta State had eight shots, with five of them being on target. Delta State fouled 12 times, and AUM fouled 11. Elkins, Thomas Carlile, and Renan Diniz all scored during the match and had three shots on goal each. Baron took a shot and assisted two of the goals.

The Warhawks now have a conference record of 5-2-3 and are ranked 3rd in conference standings. Baron was one of the nominees considered for Gulf South Conference player of the week, and Elkins was a nominee considered for GSC defender of the week. The Warhawks are clinched for the playoffs. This is the first time in AUM history that the men’s soccer team has made it to the GSC playoffs. Baron was also named the Warhawk of the Week.

The dates and the locations for post-conference play have not yet been determined.
