A Warhawk’s Winter Break

BY: Anthony Flournoy

School can be very stressful for students, but sometimes self-reflection can help de-stress. Self-reflection can involve congratulating yourself on another successful semester in your college career, or maybe looking back on your previous work and focus on enhancing certain skills. This gives students time to analyze themselves and work on shortcomings.

The semester is finally coming to an end, and Winter Break is approaching. Even though the upcoming break could be boring, there are many things you can do throughout the break to stay productive. You could obtain a temporary job, volunteer, spend time with family, or spend time reflecting and preparing for the upcoming semester. All of these things can keep you busy through the upcoming winter break.

Relaxation can also help you de-stress during the break. There will be plenty of time on break for you to kick back and relax. It’s a great time to catch up on sleep or focus on interests. Winter Break can also be a good time for you to clean up, shop,  and get organized.

Students will have plenty of time to spend with family the holidays as well. Christmas, New Years, and other holidays are celebrated during this time. These are the best times to spend with family and recuperate from rough semesters at school. You could obtain a side job or even volunteer somewhere to gain more experience in a certain field. You could get a temporary job at a firework stand, volunteer at the Salvation Army, or even obtain a desired internship.

Winter Break is also a great time to prepare and prioritize for the upcoming semester. If you have not registered for classes, it would be a great time to do that and get a schedule that you can work around. You can even go ahead and buy books for some of your future classes. There is nothing wrong with being organized and ready for what’s next. It is always great to be one step ahead and have an advantage over future obstacles.
