Welcome back to campus, AUM students!
For most this is just a return, but for incoming freshmen and transfer students, this is an exciting new beginning. In my case, it’s a bit of both.
Let me introduce myself, I’m Sofia Cerebuch, a senior journalism student and the new Editor-in-Chief of The AUMnibus. While this semester marks my return to campus and my last semester as an undergraduate college student, it also marks the beginning of my new role as editor.
I took my first steps in working for the newspaper during my sophomore year, publishing an editorial on sports, and then I joined the staff as a podcast editor and writer in the spring semester of 2026. Today, it is an honor to take over the leadership of the newspaper, taking up the baton after the outstanding work of the most recent editor, Jordan White, and her entire editorial staff, whose commitment allowed us to be named AUM’s Club of the Year last April. This recent achievement and our 55-year legacy is not an endpoint, but the foundations on which to build the future of The AUMnibus.
The role of editor-in-chief is not just a position, but a promise. It is the promise to always put the truth first, to be at the service of the community and to give it a voice. This is the promise that I and the student editorial staff make to you, with new faces, new ideas and projects.
Our goal has always been to cover AUM’s campus in all its forms. For this reason, we will always be active on our online newspaper, as well as publishing the traditional print version this fall. In addition, this year we want to bring The AUMnibus even closer to students, thanks to a new print newsletter we plan to distribute monthly around the campus. Inside you will find some of the most relevant articles, photos of the main events and a calendar with sporting events and the different activities on offer.
I’m extremely excited to kick off this semester, to see where this journey will take us. The goal we’ve set is to bring to you as many relevant stories as we can. But we need your help. If by any chance, you enjoy writing, drawing or storytelling, or know a story we could cover, don’t be afraid to step forward. If you have something to say, we will give you the space! I wish all of you a wonderful semester filled with new experiences, new friendships, and new achievements. Get involved in campus life, become a part of it, step outside your comfort zones, and we’ll be right there by your side, telling your stories and keeping you updated. Go Warhawks!
