5 Study Tips to Help You Excel in Midterms

BY: Isadora Nicolai

It is midterms season, and students are at that critical moment when a failed midterm test could unbalance their average in any class. Studying can be boring, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are some tips to make your study days for the midterms a little bit more pleasant.

  1. Turn on some jams.

Some people are able to concentrate and study even with a TV or music on. When studying for the midterms, make a bomb playlist and dive into whatever topic you are studying. Music makes everything lighter and enjoyable. Perhaps having good tunes on might make the time go by fast and help you get done with all the topics there are to study.

  1. Find a new place to study.

Finding a new cool space to do your studying might help you to get a different vibe and maybe enjoy the time you spend there. A nice coffee shop with good coffee, a quiet environment and aesthetically pleasing decorations can bring a completely different perspective for a study day.

  1. Pair up with a classmate.

Studying alone can be exactly the way it sounds: lonely! If you have a classmate you are close to, it is a great idea to pair up and do some studying together. Your study partner may know topics you don’t know yet and vice versa. Quizzing each other is a great way to test your knowledge and have a little fun while preparing for your test.

  1. Make your own quiz questions.

Just reading chapters over and over again can become old. In order to still memorize the test topics and make things a little interesting, come up with your own questions on what you think the test might be about. Being able to come up with questions requires knowledge about the subject, so you will be learning without even realizing it! If you are lucky enough you might even guess some of the questions that will be on the quiz or test.

  1. Color code, EVERYTHING!

For those who enjoy taking notes and learn better when writing them by hand, color coding is a great way to have pretty notes and separate the topics of your test. Everything will be beautiful, colorful and extremely organized for a review!

Not all tips might be the best fit for you, but using a couple of them should be enough to help you fly through the midterms. Good luck!
