Tough times don’t last— tough people do. Auburn University of Montgomery’s Women’s Basketball team is struggling through the season. The team holds a record of 6-10 for the 2021- 2022 season so far. The season started off tremendously, until the fourth game. There are 16 players on the team, with two being graduating students and three of them being seniors. The team is still young, and they have tons of fundamentals to develop. Although the season has been a little shaky, the team still has a chance to turn it around. While there are 11 games remaining, a better season is possible.
The Warhawks recently won 86-72; that’s a way to recover after four losses. Catlin Carter led the team with 22 points. Carter has been averaging 14 points a game. Her best game was against Shorter, leading the team with 28 points. Carter is also known for her rebounds, although she is only 5’7. Other players are standing out as well: a senior, Jordan Brewster, and freshman Allasha Dudley. Brewster ranks second in AUM’s history of 3-pointers made in a single season. Brewster’s performance has been outstanding over the four years. Dudley is a freshman who has plenty of time to flourish with the team. Due to her high school performance, she won two-time 4A Player of the Year trophies. The Women’s Basketball team is led by Head Coach Sean Page. Page has led the team since Aug. 13, 2018. Page has a dynamic overall record of 217-137.
In conclusion, the Warhawks played Mississippi College and fell short. Carter led the team with 15 points, along with Dudley and Moore. There was a great chance to recover while MC led 21-29 at the half. With 12.2 seconds left of the game, the score was 47- 48, still falling one short. Although the Warhawks turned the ball over, it was a fair fight. Losing the game 47-50 put the Warhawks at a 6-10 record. The Warhawks will travel to Cleveland, Tennessee to play Lee University on Feb. 5 at 1 p.m.
