Victory on the Horizon

Basketball season is a time for popcorn, points, and victories. The AUM Men’s Basketball team started their journey into the season back in November with their first game beginning with UAB. Since then, they have been taking on many challenging teams as they fight for a position this season. This season has proven to have been an uphill battle for the Warhawks, but the crowd and the players have not given up yet. The overall score so far is 8-13, with hopefully more wins in the future.

Tonight’s win against Mississippi College left both fans and players with much excitement. The game was very close, with both teams putting in a lot of effort. The Warhawks left the court with 68 points against Mississippi, who were only able to score 60. Jeremiah Bozeman, the senior guard, led the game tonight with 22 points. While Isaiah Hart, the teams’ point guard, was close behind with 15 points. Roderick Smith, one of the most solid forwards/centers the team has, matched his scores tonight with a career first by putting up 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

So far, the Warhawks have put up a combined total of 1,576 points this season, 379 of which were Isaiah Hart’s and 309 being Jeremiah Bozeman’s. The team scored the most points in their game against Southeastern Baptist, where they left the court with 116 points and a victory.  Although the team has not exceeded the number of wins vs. losses, the season is far from over and the mighty Warhawks continue to press on. The team still has seven games left to play and hopefully, we are able to see seven wins to follow.

If you hope to catch the Warhawks live, there are still three more games you can attend. The next home game will be on Thursday, February 10 at 8 p.m. Make sure to come out and support the team as they continue to rally. Don’t forget: Games are free to all students, and support for all athletic teams is greatly appreciated.
