There is no stopping Theatre AUM. After the World Tour: Acting Showcase performance earlier this semester, the department quickly started preparing for their next production. For this next production, Theatre AUM will present their production of The Seagull by Anton Chekhov translated by Christopher Hampton on November 7.
I visited the set, and it looks fantastic. Sources say that the costumes are elaborate for such a period piece. The students who are participating in the production have been working hard to bring this show to life for AUM and the community. Student and actor Tony George says he is excited for everyone to come see the dramatic aspect of the play. This play involves a type of variety that will have your emotions on a roller coaster. We also talked with actress Cheyenne Singleton, and she said, “The play shows how similar society is from Russia in 1896 to now even in America.; Yeah it’s funny but we should take it more seriously the audience will laugh at a pain that is either self-inflicted or inflicted by the people around us.” Hopefully this play will have you crying and laughing.
The Seagull will be performed on November 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16 at 7:30 PM and November 17, 2019 at 2:00 PM. The doors to the theater will open 30 minutes prior to showtime. Having problems locating the theatre? It is located on the second floor of the Taylor Center. Admission for the production is $10.00. Senior citizens, students and military tickets are $5.00, and AUM students, faculty, and staff get in free with their AUM IDs. Please be aware that no one under the age of six will be allowed into the theatre. We hope to see you there to support Theatre AUM!
