The Best Halloween Movies

BY: Kaleria Jackson

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s not Christmas, just yet. It’s Halloween the time of the year where you can dress up in as your favorite character. The time where receiving candy from strangers is acceptable. Just like Christmas, I love the special movies that come along with the holiday. Everyone has their own top picks for which Halloween movie is the best. These picks will not include scary movies since I do not watch scary movies. With that being acknowledged here are my top picks for best Halloween movies.

Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocus is sure enough the best Halloween movie. This movie has given the public exactly what we needed. For instance, the song “I Put A Spell On You” is a timely classic. The song is a nothing short of a ‘bop’. Then, you have Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy who play the Sanderson sisters. From the silly accents to the outlandish makeup these women made this movie into the classic that it is.

Twitches

On more than one occasion twins Tia and Tamera Mowry have been separated at birth. After being reunited days before their 21st birthday, which is on Halloween. They discover that they have magical powers, they are princesses, and their family is from a different realm. Together Alex and Camryn (Tia and Tamera) beat the darkness, known as their uncle Thantos. I think we should learn by now that any character named Thanos or Thantos is typically not the good character in any movie. Overall the movie had me wanting a twin sister and magical powers.

The Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion is filled with comedy. Eddie Murphy does a spectacular job in this movie. Workaholic Jim Evers (Eddie Murphy) takes his family on a vacation, but stops to visit a house that needs to be sold. This house turns out to be filled with spirits, ghosts, and a creepy butler. In order to save his wife from the hands of a creepy butler, Jim Evers and his kids must work together to figure out what this haunted mansion is all about.

The Addams Family

This family is the definition of a gothic comedy. Everything about this weird family brings a smile to your face. Fester disappeared years ago, so when an imposter of Fester appears at the Addams Family front porch they accepted him with open arms. That was until Wednesday Addams noticed that the imposter could not be her uncle Fester. This leads the Addams children to unveil the imposter. There are antics throughout the movie that will make you laugh and enjoy this weird little family.

The Little Vampire

I do not know about anyone else, but The Little Vampire was one of my favorite Halloween movie as a kid. Jonathan Lipnicki was the cutest kid in this film. His lisp was just plain adorable that you could not get enough of him in the film. Tony (Jonathan Lipnicki) moved to Scotland and made friends with a young vampire named Rudolph. When the vampire race is in trouble Tony jumps at the opportunity to help his new friend. Tony and Rudolph were more than just friends they were blood brothers. Their friendship is what makes this a cute movie.
