At San Diego Comic-Con on July 19, 2018, Dave Filoni, creator of Star Wars the Clone Wars, announced a new season set to be released on the Disney+ streaming service on February 21, 2020. This was great news for anyone who was a fan of the show and has been waiting to see the conclusion ever since it was cancelled. Before the new season is released, there are a few things old and new fans should be aware of. Here is what you need to know before watching the final season.
The Unfinished Episodes
Shortly after its cancellation, Lucasfilm released a collection of thirteen unreleased episodes that would have continued the story of The Clone Wars before its cancellation. These episodes, which are fully voiced and partially animated, include some of the new and exciting characters seen in the trailers for the new season. For anyone who wants to better understand these characters before the release of the new season, these episodes are a must-watch.
The Completion of Ahsoka’s Story
Even though she didn’t start off as a breakout character, Ahsoka has grown into one of the most popular Star Wars characters of all time. From Jedi padawan to rebel fighter, Ahsoka has had a lot of exciting adventures, and the upcoming season of The Clone Wars will be no different. Although the official Ahsoka novel filled in a lot of gaps in her story, fans will soon get to see the events that led to Ahsoka to officially joining the resistance movement and her showdown with ex-Sith apprentice Darth Maul, which was hinted at in Star Wars Rebels.
Anakin’s Turn to the Dark Side
Everyone knows Anakin turned to the dark side in Revenge of the Sith to save his wife, Padme, from dying during childbirth. In the latest trailer for Clone Wars , a very pregnant Padme can be seen sharing an intimate moment with Anakin over a hologram. Set days before the events of Revenge of the Sith, fans will finally get to see the events that led to Anakin’s descent to the dark side and what caused him to fully embrace becoming a Sith.
