Auburn University at Montgomery Women’s Basketball team faced off against Lee University Flames last Saturday in another Gulf South Conference (GSC) showdown. The theme of last Saturday’s game was a pink-out game in support of cancer awareness. Unfortunately, AUM women would lose against the Flames with the final score being 76-63. It was a game where any and every shot was falling for the Flames beyond and inside the arc. The leading score for the women’s team would be Jeremiah Moore with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists which would end up being her fifth double-double of the season. Lilly Parke would add 12 points, 2 assists and 4 rebounds in the loss to the Flames. With that loss, the Flames would end up clinching not only a championship berth but a GSC quarterfinal home game in the playoffs.
AUM women’s basketball would play their next home game against the Union University Bulldogs on Feb. 11, 2022. Another theme would take place for this home game as the theme for it would be Greek night. AUM Warhawks would suffer defeat against the Bulldogs with a final score of 94-49. AUM Warhawks would post their season high in turnovers this season with 33 against the Bulldogs. Turnovers by the Warhawks impacted this game severely as the Bulldogs would score 37 points off of those 33 turnovers. Jamya Tyus would lead the scoring category for the Warhawks with 12 points, 1 assist and 4 rebounds in the loss. Kamya Hollingshed would follow behind with 10 points, 2 assists and 4 rebounds. AUM women’s basketball would put this loss behind them to focus on their next game against Christian Brothers University which would be the Warhawk’s homecoming game.
AUM women’s basketball faced off against Christian brothers University for their homecoming game last Saturday. At the game, many items were given away like shirts, rally towels, wristbands and food. AUM women would put up a great game against the Christian Brothers University but couldn’t obtain the win. The final score of the game was 78-58 as the Bucs went on a 24-14 run against the Warhawks. Derienne Black would lead scoring for the Warhawks with 15 points, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds in the loss. Jamya Tyus collect 10 points, 2 steals, and 2 rebounds. AUM women’s team will be on the road for their next two games before wrapping up their season with the final game at home against the University of Montevallo on Feb. 25, 2023 for the Senior day and white-out game.
