Senior outside hitter Kendall McCain made history, becoming Auburn University at Montgomery’s all-time leader in career last month in a dramatic match against Valdosta State at The Athletics Complex.
“Breaking the record is special to me,” McCain said, “I put in a lot of work these past few years, so I’m super honored that they recognized it and everything.”
The volleyball star recorded her record-breaking 760th kill midway through the match, surpassing the previous mark of 759 held by former player Nyah Whittlesey who played for AUM from 2018-2021.
She finished the night with 10 kills, breaking the record and cementing her name in Warhawk history.
McCain, a four-year starter and three-time All-Gulf South Conference selection, has been the cornerstone of AUM’s offense since arriving on campus. Her consistency, leadership and relentless drive have helped elevate the program to new heights.
“There’s two complements when you achieve a record like this,” said AUM Volleyball Head Coach Craig Case. “The first one has got to be talent, which she clearly is. The second one is you’ve got to have the availability and durability, what most coaches say is the best ability,” Case said when talking about McCains record.

The record adds to McCain’s growing list of accolades. She ranks in the top five in program history in service aces, total points and is on pace to finish with the most points scored in AUM’s NCAA division II era. Her impact is also felt off the court, where she has been named to the GSC All-Academic team and serves as a team captain.
“McCain is also on the hunt to take the career top spot in points, sets played, and matches played. She is also ranked third in career service aces,” according to AUM Athletics communications team.
With 10 regular season matches remaining, McCain has the opportunity to add to her legacy. AUM eyes a postseason run that could solidify McCains legacy even more. The Warhawks have had a rough season but they look to bounce back as season play continues.
McCain says her focus remains on finishing strong and leading her team to victory, but admits the record is a moment she’ll never forget. “I know my teammates and my coaches have a lot of faith in me,” McCain said. “Just knowing that gives me a lot of confidence to play the best I can during practice and games.”
McCain’s name now sits atop the record books, a testament to her talent, work ethic and a career that will be remembered for years to come.
The Lady Warhawks rematch Valdosta State at home tonight at 6 p.m in the AUM Athletics Complex.
