Registration for spring is near. One of the many tasks as a college student is to make sure that you are signed up for classes. The earlier the better.

Priority Registration for seniors, UHP, athletes and graduate students begins on Oct. 29. For juniors, the first day is Nov. 1. For sophomores and freshmen, the first day is Nov. 2. These dates are swiftly approaching, so students should make sure to talk with their advisors so that they might be fully prepared for next semester. All of these dates can be found on AUM’s website

The stress of college and the many tasks that are required to keep up can be overwhelming. AUM offers students various resources to help navigate registration. If you would like to meet with an advisor, you can enter your AUM portal and head to your advisortrac which will help you set up a meeting with a selected advisor within your major.

Talking with your advisor on a consistent basis is beneficial for many reasons. Some students make the mistake of signing up for classes that are not counted towards their major, which results in lost time and money. Some benefits of meeting with an advisor are:

  • Staying on track with your courses
  • Developing a strong relationship with your advisor
  • Getting first-hand practice with meeting and scheduling for future careers
  • Gaining feedback from an advisor on course progress

Making sure that you are organized and well prepared every semester will help you succeed in life after college. Starting while you are in college is the best thing you can do. It also ensures that you do not miss out on taking the classes that you need to help get you out of college quicker!
