In conjunction with the Auburn University at Montgomery Durr Lecture Series, a showing of the documentary The Durrs of Montgomery will be shown at AUM on Friday, April 13th at 7 p.m. in Goodwyn Hall 109.
Following the film, Dr. Patricia Sullivan, a historian at the University of South Carolina and Lulah Colan, one of The Durr’s daughters, will lead panel discussions. Other friends and family of the Durrs will attened.
According to Dr. Silvia Giagnoni, communications professor at AUM, Clifford and Virigina Durrs were heavily involved in civil rights movements in the 1930s and “were pivotal in supporting many actions in Montgomery” and Alabama. Virginia was a close friend of Rosa Parks, E.D Nixon, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
