MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Finals right around the corner, which can be the most stressful time of the school year. In order to prepare students, the Counseling and Health Promotion Services Produces (CHPS), are inviting to students to come relax.
Greta Chambless, Associate Director of Clinical Services, says CHPS wants to give students a chance to decrease their stress and will be serving hot chocolate and marshmallows to everyone.
“We are here to help students with any need they have from stress and anxiety to relationships to more serious mental health issues,” said Chambless.
Students are invited to participate in games and can also pick up a calendar page, where the team will be available to help students manage their time in the semester and schedule final assignments.
“On Thursday, one our interns will have a demonstration of Tai chi,” she said.
Tai chi is known as a variety of slow movements that helps calm the mind, and can teach students how to avoid an overall burnout.
Most importantly, the goal of the event is to make people aware that counseling services are available anytime for students throughout the year.
The event will occur for two days and is free to anyone at AUM. Located at Goodwyn Hall Lobby, November 28 and 29 at 12-1:30 p.m.
