Another Winning Season for AUM Softball

As February comes to a close, the Warhawks softball team sits at a 5-2 record. Starting the season off with not only a win, but a 9-0 shutout against the University of Mobile in the first tournament of the season was definitely the start the Warhawks wanted to get. The Warhawks finished the Gulf Coast invitational tournament with a 3-1 record, falling only to the University of North Georgia with a nail biting 5-4 score. In their second tournament of the season, the GSC Opening Weekend Festival, the Warhawks came out on top again with a 2-1 record. While the Warhawks came up short against the University of North Alabama, they clutched the win against Mississippi College and Union University. With a new season, there will always come new challenges as well as new teammates.

For freshman Hannah Dailey, from Deatsville, Alabama, the transition from high school to college softball has been special for her. When asked what she has learned from the challenges of being a collegiate athlete, Hannah said “I’d say time management. With workouts every morning, class, practice, study hall, and more class after, its hard to balance studying and a social life.” Hannah was also named Warhawk of the Week for the week of February 12th -18th. When asked what one word she would use to describe this season thus far, she said “Exciting. Because it’s my freshman year, I have been so excited for this new experience, and our team is already off to a great start. We have great chemistry, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the season.”

With a roster full of smart, talented and dedicated players, the Warhawks are just getting started on another fantastic season. There are still chances to see this all star team in action including games against University of West Alabama March 10th and 11th, Valdosta State University March 17th and 18th, and a double header versus Huntingdon College March 20th.
