InterVarsity AUM Presents “Mental Health, Self Care and Faith”

Nov. 9, 2022 - AUM’s InterVarsity is hosting Mental Health, Self Care and Faith, featuring guest speaker Skip McDonald, a registered nurse and Spiritual Director. McDonald will focus on discussions based on mental health and combining your self-care with your faith. The event will also feature a Q&A for students to express concerns and get answers. This event will also feature food, fun, games and giveaways. The event is available to AUM students and no sign-up is required. This semester, the PRCA AUM and Dr. Kim’s Sports Communication 3300 class came together to create a cultural campaign that would culminate into an event. Spanish, Anthropology classes celebrate Day of the Dead

By: Dalton Kimbro Students’ Day of the Dead Altars in the Taylor Center. On Tuesday, the department of sociology, anthropology and social work held an event in the Taylor Center showcasing students’ projects for Dia de Los Muertos. Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Latin American holiday celebrated on November 1 where families and friends can celebrate and honor their deceased. Some customs include parties, parades and the building of altars to honor the dead. “The entire purpose is to remember the dead that you were close to and honor their lives,” said Dr. Kimberly Pyszka, a professor at AUM’s department of sociology, anthropology and social work. Starting Nov. 14, the brothers of Alpha Psi Alpha will host events that are focused on supporting AUM students, faculty and staff.
