Montgomery, Alabama- Sept. 6, 2019-
The Warhawks volleyball team start their home game stint with not one but two games on the same day. On Tuesday, September 10, their first game will be vs Erskine College at 4 p.m. at the AUM Athletics Complex.
Erskine College went 7-21 in 2018, but stood at 0-11 in away games. This will not be the Flying Fleets’ first game- they will have already played four teams heading into the matchup.
The Warkhawks’ second home game of the day will be vs Huntingdon College at 6 p.m. at the same venue. The Huntingdon Hawks went 21-12 in 2018 and 11-3 in their conference games.
The Lady Warhawks will look to improve their record from last year when they went 11-20. Their record for home games was 4-8, so two wins would give them half of last years total. Considering it’s only the Lady Warhawks’ second year of existence, it has not been a bad start for them.
In 2017, AUM’s first season with a volleyball team, their record was just 9-21. During their second year, they went 11-20, winning two more games than the previous year. Undoubtedly, the Lady Warhawks want to best the last two years and come up with more wins building on the previous seasons.
With AUM just celebrating officially joining NCAA Division 2, they are looking to start this season off right. With new coaches joining the staff and a slew of new players, this season is bound to be a good one.
