Walmart to Team Up With Google

Walmart and Google will team up in an effort to compete with Amazon.

Walmart customers will be able to order groceries with voice commands through Google’s smart-home assistant. Starting this month, shoppers will be to add items directly to their Walmart Grocery cart using Google Assistant by saying, “Hey Google, talk to Walmart.”

“We’re kicking off the work with Google, adding others to the mix as time goes on,” Walmart U.S. senior vice president Tom Ward said in the statement.

Walmart has to ramp up its customer buying experience, as Alexa already allows Amazon customers to order their items through her voice commands.

Amazon currently dominates the smart speaker market, with an astounding 67 percent of the shares belonging to the company. However, Walmart holds national prominence, and its alliance with Google is exactly what the company needs moving forward.
