MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Nov. 7, 2018— Still in the Halloween spirit and wish you could somehow celebrate even though the haunted houses and hayrides are over? Are you into history as well? This might be the perfect event for you.
Learn more about Montgomery by participating in a walking tour through Oakwood Cemetery’s Eastern Annex with local historian and author, Jeff Benton. Throughout the tour you will discover about changing architectural styles of marking graves with Celtic crosses, urns, columns, obelisks and more.
Some of the places along the route include: Royal Air Force and Free French World War II cemeteries, Hank Williams’ grave, Eternal Rest Cemetery, Union Civil War Memorial and St. Margaret’s Cemetery as well as many other places of interest along the way.
Members of the Landmarks Foundation of Montgomery can show their membership cards for free tour admission, and non-members will only need to pay $10. You can purchase tickets at Old Alabama Town Museum Store during business hours.
The tour will be held on Sun., Nov. 11, 2018 from 1:30PM – 3:30PM.
