The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is hosting Walk MS in Montgomery this Saturday, March 23. The fundraiser will be held downtown and will start at 200 Coosa St. Those that want to participate in the walk can register online at http://nationalmssociety.org. However, registration closes at noon on Thursday. If you are unable to register and still want to participate, please see someone at the registration area before the walk begins. On-site registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. All ages are encouraged to participate to help put an end to multiple sclerosis. If children are in your group, they will have to be registered as well. All participates will have the option of completing a 1 mile or 3-mile course throughout downtown and by Riverwalk Stadium.
MS is an immune-mediated disease that causes symptoms inside the central nervous system and affects roughly 2.3 million people worldwide. Participants that suffer from MS and that sign up for the Living with MS program will receive a free Walk MS T-shirt. In addition, those that raise $100 will also receive a Walk MS T-shirt. Last year the event raised $28,963 and plans to do just as well if not better this year. The fundraiser will take place rain or shine. If lighting comes into the area the event may be delayed. Contact walkMS@nmss.org if you are diagnosed with MS and would like more information concerning the Living with MS program.
