Auburn University at Montgomery’s housing life offers something for everybody. From private rooms, rooms for two, and even rooms for up to four people, there are plenty of housing options. There are four different housing communities: P-40 Place, Warhawk Hall, The Commons, and The Courtyard. In addition, different amenities are offered at different prices, so there are options for various budgets. Whether you are a freshman or a senior, AUM’s campus life has options to make you feel right at home. Here are the top five reasons you should consider living on campus.

Amenities– Since AUM is committed to ensuring every student is comfortably accommodated, every housing community offers free parking, high speed internet, free laundry, and 24-hour camera surveillance. All of these housing communities are handicap accessible. In case students do not have their own transportation, the Warhawk Transit runs Monday through Saturday to various stores, Eastdale Mall, The Shoppes at Eastchase, and AMC Theaters. The transit schedule is posted online at http://www.aum.edu/sites/default/files/Transit_Schedules_File_Website.pdf

The Nest– Located on the bottom floor of the Taylor Center, The Nest is the home of the Housing and Residence Life staff. They are there Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to answer any questions you may have about campus life. Additionally, The Nest acts as a common area equipped with a recreational room, gaming room, convivence store, 24-hour computer lab, event space, and a study and social space.

The Café at AUM– The Dining hall is located on the second floor of the Taylor Center. It offers five dining options: Burger 334, which offers chicken fingers, burgers, and fries; Tu Taco, which offers tacos, burritos, nachos, and quesadillas; Smoked, which offers southern style BBQ; and Homestyle, which offers different southern homestyle meals. Breakfast is also served daily. Students have the opportunity to choose a meal plan of their choice, ranging from $600 to $1,250. For all the meal plan options, visit http://www.aum.edu/dining.

The Wellness Center– The Wellness and Recreation Center is located within walking distance of the residence communities. It is equipped with a weight room, cardio equipment, indoor track, basketball courts, swimming pool and jacuzzi, a rock-climbing wall, locker rooms, and a multi-purpose room. With their student ID, all students have free access to The Wellness Center, along with fitness classes, personal trainers, and fitness challenges.

Student Jobs– AUM offers jobs to students who are in good academic standing. The student worker must be enrolled in full time hours and can only work 20 hours a week. A job position can be held up to a year.

These are the top five reasons you should consider living on campus. Though these are not the only things campus life has to offer, this list is a good way to get started exploring.
