Premiering right after Superbowl LIV, “The Masked Singer” season three started off with all new contestants and all new rules. Returning for a third season to guess who’s under the mask are, Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy, along with celebrity guest judge Jamie Foxx. All judges were introduced to six new contestants from Group A. It was announced that, together, the contestants from Group A had nine Super Bowl appearances.
For those unfamiliar with the show, celebrities from all walks of life come together to battle it out each week until only one is left standing. Each week, the contestants reveal new clues about their identity to the judges and the audience to aid them in guessing who they really are before they are eliminated and are forced to take off their mask and reveal themselves. Like previous seasons, all contestants battled it out to keep their mask on to get one step closer to winning the competition and being awarded with the golden mask trophy. The premier introduced us to the six contestants known simply as Robot, White Tiger, Turtle, Kangaroo, Llama, and Miss Monster. After six amazing performances, Robot was unmasked and sent home.
Those who missed the premiere shouldn’t feel too discouraged. Due to new changes to the shows format, fans will not have to wait two weeks to see the contestants from the premier again. Unlike last season, which consisted of four groups with four contestants each, this season will feature six contestants divided into three groups. Each week, one group will perform until only three are left standing, at which point the show will move onto the next group until each group has only three contestants remaining. These top nine contestants will then battle it out against one another each week until only one is left standing.
For anyone interested in watching the show, now would be the time. Not only are the contestants getting better and better, but so are the performances, which are sure to surprise and excite anyone who tunes in.
