SELMA, Ala.- Former Secretary of State, U.S. Senator, and First Lady Hillary Clinton will be making an appearance in Selma to commemorate the 54th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, the Selma-Montgomery March, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. She will be there to the support the Lift Our Vote 2020 proposal that encourages people to register and vote for the next presidential election.
This is the chance to walk across the famous Edmund Pettus Bridge with public figures and real foot soldiers who marched in 1965 for African American voting rights, which is also known as Bloody Sunday.

Not only can you partake in the festival but this is the chance to influence others because according to Toure, the march reminds us that the fight for voting rights must continue.
This is also a great opportunity to show the city of Selma some support. The theme is year is called “Breaking Barriers & Building Bridges to the Beloved Community.”
The Jubilee is a four-day event and Clinton will be participating in some activities.
The Jubilee includes over 40 events, and at least 30 are free. Free activities include the mass meeting on Thursday, the theatre festival and hall of fame inductions on Friday, the Jubilee parade and battle of the bands on Saturday, and the March to Restore Voting Rights on Sunday.
Civil rights leaders Martin Luther King III, Bernice King, and Jesse Jackson are also preparing to attend.
