Road to Victory

AUM’s volleyball team is starting the season off with some heat. The team has been barrelling through the season with competitive victories. In the first couple of months, the girls have made their way through three invitational rounds: the USC Aiken Invitational, Shark Invitational and Reddie-Tiger Invitational.

All of the girls have been working very hard to make sure that the team stays on a steady incline as they make their way to the championship at the end of the season. The team’s first official game was back in September against the North Greenville Knights. The girls dominated in all five sets taking the win back home. Since then, the team has won a total of 15 out of 26 games and plans on winning many more.

The most recent home game had an outstanding turnout. The team won against the University of Montevallo in a 3-2 game.

When asked what the team was looking forward to most in the season, Isadora Nicolai, a setter for the women’s volleyball says that she is “most looking forward to the conference tournament, at the end of the day those games at the end are what define if we can move on to regionals or not.”

AUM Athletics strives to be the best, and that is exactly what the volleyball team is doing. This is only the beginning. The girls are ready to “prove a point” on the court this season.
