MPAC Continues to Be Successful

The Montgomery Performing Art Center was built during the renovations to the Convention Center of the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Spa in 2007. Ever since then, it has been a highlight for the city. It has brought in a wide array of entertaining acts and enjoyment to the guest.

Concerning its size, the venue is not that impressive looking at it on a piece of paper. It is a relatively small venue that can only support a maximum occupancy of 1,800 guests. However, this creates an atmosphere that can make a show more rememberable and bring an audience closer together. This is mainly because it can give the artist a feeling that they are performing for a more appreciative and honed in audience. Think about being a huge festival like Bonnaroo or Coachella and seeing your favorite artist. Now think about seeing them at the MPAC. Of course, you will probably miss out on an awesome diverse crowd, some cool vendors, and the experience of going to a large festival. However, the uniqueness of the MPAC is what makes it special and helps it succeed- the show experience creates a close feeling between the artist and the audience. With the standard orchestra, mezzanine, loge, and balcony set up combined with the quaint setup, it has proved to be an entertaining venue.

Since the beginning, the MPAC has not been shy about bringing in a wide range of acts. Some notable acts that have performed there include Boston, Alice Cooper, Martina McBride, Peter Frampton, and The Doobie Brothers. Concerts are not the only thing the MPAC hosts- the venue has been known to bring in comedians, host beauty pageants, and do live filmings of various shows as well. Notable comedians that performed include Katt Williams, Ron White and Mike Epps. Peppa Pig, Jerry Springer, Sesame Street, and The Price is Right have all conducted live recording sessions there. The MPAC shows no signs of slowing down either. On April 25, Marshall Tucker Band will play at 7:30 p.m. and will add to the list of notable acts the venue has managed to bring to the city.
