In Singapore, a man by the name of Benjamin Glenn was recently recorded refusing to put his mask on his face in public. He loudly chanted, “I’m not going to put that mask on my face,” while shouting curse words. Glenn was sentenced to six weeks in prison for mask refusal. Glenn is forty years old and has been caught several times breaking COVID-19 protocols in the country. As we all know, COVID-19 has been getting a lot worse before it has gotten better, and the world still does not seem to be taking it seriously. Even with the multiple vaccines, it is still necessary to take all the precautions to at least stop the spreading. Taking these extremes such as jail is necessary to keep the world safe, in my opinion.
I do wish the state of Alabama did the same thing when it came down to how serious we should take COVID-19. I feel the second you refuse to wear a mask, you should have to pay all of the consequences that come with it. Glenn’s sentence was only six weeks, and I feel as if that is a good enough punishment to make you take putting your mask on seriously. Glynn was charged with four charges of failure to wear a mask on a train in May 2021 and had his court appearance in July. He was caught using threatening words towards public servants and workers. Singapore has a very strict mask policy that everyone has to abide by. Several visitors and foreigners have even lost their work permits for not taking the mask mandate seriously.
