AUM Celebrates First Veterans Appreciation Week

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Nov. 7, 2018— Already known as a military friendly college, AUM has decided to further show their appreciation by celebrating the first ever Veteran Appreciation Week. AUM has always been a proud supporter of military students and their families by educating active military members, veterans, reserves, military spouses and military dependents.

The week will honor AUM faculty, staff and students who have served or who are currently serving in the military, as reserves or in the National Guard.

Events begin on Mon. Nov. 12 and last until Fri. Nov. 16. This is what the week will look like:

Monday, November 12th— Purple Heart Parking
In front of Taylor Center at 10 a.m.
Unveiling of Purple Heart designated parking spaces.

Tuesday, November 13th — Picnic with Patriots
AUM QUAD from 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
Free lunch with valid military ID, wear clothing displaying your support for the U.S. military or make a $2 donation.

Wednesday, November 14th— Movie and Game night
Warhawk Alley from 5–9 p.m.
2 military themed movies and games.

Thursday, November 15th — Guard Card Ceremony & Reception
Library Tower, 10th floor from 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m.
Official issuance of the Guard Card and recognition of Guard Students.

Friday, November 16th — Breakfast with the Brave
Library Tower, 10th floor from 8:30–10 a.m.
Breakfast to recognize Staff and Faculty that have served or are serving in the military.
