This winter season, Alabama Shakespeare Festival will be showing two Christmas plays. The shows are The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever will be performed from December 5 to December 29. The show will be held on the Festival Stage. It will be a 70-minute play with no intermission. It is suggested that audience members be at least 7 years old.
The play is focused around the Herdman kids. They run wild but decide to try out for the Christmas pageant at church. This causes interesting and fun times for everyone involved in making sure the pageant runs smoothly.

All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914
All is Calm will be performed from December 7 to December 29. The show will be held on the Octagon Stage. It will be an 80-minute show with no intermission. It is suggested that audience members be at least 13 years old.
From history, we know that a Christmas Truce happened during World War I. Allied soldiers and German soldiers stopped fighting for one night after one man started to sing “Silent Night.” This play recounts that night and gives some firsthand accounts of the event.
