5 Tips for Your Daily Skin Care

BY: Brittany Vallely

You’ve had a long day and you’re ready to go bed, but then you remember you need to wash face.  Skin care is important for one’s personal health, but it’s a routine that requires multiple steps and can be tedious.

While hot water and soap is the easiest opinion, that process is not always favorable. Everyone has different types of skin and sometimes others require more attention— especially if you are a girl who wears makeup throughout the week.

Skin can also be sensitive so it is important to know what kind of products are best for you. This article does not explain what specific products will agree with you, but here are some skin care tips to help make your routine easier.

Makeup Wipes

Using a makeup wipe is the fastest way to get makeup off- especially eye makeup. You can easily grab one before bed and in the morning.  It won’t take all the makeup off and won’t get all the dirt underneath the skin, but a makeup wipe does help clean the surface. Makeup wipes are beneficial in any skin care routine because they are better than using the same towel every day. Some cleaning is better than none at all, and they do help prevent blemishes from developing.

Cold Cream

After cleaning your face with a makeup wipe, I recommend using some brand of cold cream and then wash it off. Cold cream will help improve your skin because it washes off most of the bacteria and makeup that you may have missed from the makeup wipe. You also do not have to let cold cream sit like a face mask. Just apply it, wash your face, and you’re done. Cold cream is also like a two in one product, because it cleans your face but moisturizes it at the same time.

Facial Mask that Exfoliates

Using a face mask or some kind of exfoliating remedy will help rejuvenate your skin. Face masks are known for getting rid of dead skin, blackheads, and any bacteria that is underneath the skin. The results from a face mask should help reduce redness from blemishes and make your face “glow.” I recommend using a face mask at least once a week because too much product can dry your skin out.  If you do not have time to let the face mask sit or if you are impatient, then I suggest buying an exfoliating product that you can use in the shower.

Moisturizer

Moisturizer gives your skin relief after you wash your face and when you wake in the morning. Moisturizer gives your skin another level of protection and should always be used before applying makeup. If you do not use moisturizer, then you are putting your skin at risk of peeling and looking dull. Moisturizer is the best part of a routine because the product makes your skin feel less tight. Moisturizer is also known to decrease bags under your eyes and wrinkles. If you have oily skin then be wary of how much you use. Even if you do not wear makeup or use harsh face wash products, moisturizer is still your best friend because it will make your skin feel and look radiant. I recommend using moisturizer in the morning and staying away from fragrance products.

Benzoyl Peroxide

This ingredient is great for those who have oily skin or nasty blemishes. This will help get rid of all of the bacteria and reduce redness. The product can make any pimple shrink within hours. I recommend using this at night before you go to bed. It is also important to not use this product every day because it can dry out your skin. Apply the product by using either a makeup wipe or a cotton ball. According to the Proactiv website, Benzoyl peroxide is considered to be one of the most effective medications. By the next day, your skin will thank you because the product clears the pores from blockages. Benzoyl peroxide is easy to find at stores over the counter and is affordable for those who are on a budget.

At the end of the day, everyone’s skin care routine is different, but I urge people to at least have one. If you do not know where to start, then these tips will help your skincare journey.  Care for your skin every day because your skin does a lot for you.
